Southland disAbility Enterprises Ltd is a great Charity that employs individuals with disabilities at their recycling plant in Invercargill, Southland NZ. They have partnered with Fortuna Group for their latest initiative – to pelletise bale wrap to be repurposed. The pelletiser will be imported from China and can turn bale wrap (made from low-density polyethylene), into pellets which can then be processed into heavy duty industrial plastics such as alkathene pipes.
Fortuna Group operates 19 Southland dairy farms, which milk 13,000 cows and produce about 5.6 million kilogram of milk solids per year. Each of the farms have contributed $1,000 to the project and Chief Executive Matthew Richards was urging other farmers to do the same. Across those 19 farms alone, 10,000 bales of baleage a year is produced which equates to more than 5 tonne of bale wrap being stored in sheds, as the alternatives are burning or burial.‘’ This is a win-win solution.” – Matthew Richards.
Southland disability Enterprises Ltd still require $200,000 towards the pelletiser machine. If you are able to donate even one dollar, please click https://www.sde.org.nz/page8.html#header2-7l.
