The reality is alcohol is infused in culture. Ways to have a good time, without affecting innocent bystander’s good time: Having the gang over? Set up multiple recycling bins and rubbish bins around your property for your mates to put their empties and waste into. Drinking on the go? Organise to put a recycling + rubbish bin/box/bag in your sober driver’s car boot, to offload your empties and avoid improperly disposing of them. Letting loose before town? Organise a place to properly dispose of your recycling and waste and put your drink of choice in a reusable drink bottle or hipflask. Getting juiced up? This is the state in which glass gets shattered, and people get hurt. Ask a friend to be sober and available to you. Opt to use reusable drink bottles, and hipflasks. Waste improperly disposed of does not go away, it accumulates and harms you, your whānau, friends and Papatūānuku.
