Today, the 11th of February, is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. In 2015, HRH Princess Dr. Nisreen El-Hashemite was instrumental in drafting, introducing the resolution and successfully lobbying the United Nations into designating the 11th of February as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Today is to “Celebrate the achievements of women, known and unknown, remembered and forgotten, who have forged the way for those of us in science today.”
Sea Society Committee Members Isabella and Clara have both gained degrees in Environmental Engineering, Gwen has gained a degree in Sustainability and I am studying to gain a degree in Marine Science. We thank the inspiring women who have paved the way for us; Dr Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, Kura Paul-Burke, Marama Davison, Dr Ani Alana Kainamu, Dr. Jane Goodall, Dian Fossey.. to name a few.
