Happy International Friendship Day!

In 2011, the International Day of Friendship was founded by the United Nations. The idea is that friendship between people, countries, and cultures can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.

On this day of celebrating friends, I reflect on how lucky I am to have the friends that I do.

Today I’d like to share with you why I am grateful for my best friend and Sea Society’s Vice President Luke Suen.

Luke is Canadian, a qualified chef and has worked in the Dive Industry for a decade. We met in the Bay of Islands in mid-2018. He was living in a beat-up grey van with tinted windows at a mutual friends house; and smashed the stereotype that only creeps own dodgy-looking vans.

We became fast friends, as he does with everyone he meets. His smile lights up a room, and his quick wit will have you in hysterics.

He is Sea Society’s earliest and most dedicated supporter, and he gifted me the camera with which I take many of Sea Society’s featured photos.

Share some aroha with your mates today!
