Over New Year, I visited breathtaking Stewart Island/Rakiura and did the Rakiura Great Walk.
I spent three days completing the 32 kilometre track; to enjoy nature and minimal cellphone reception, and to increase my chances of seeing a kiwi. I was fortunate enough to see two!
To keep me sustained throughout the Great Walk, I bought Local Dehy’s plant-based dehydrated dinners, porridge’s and hummus.
They are the tastiest dehydrated meals I have ever had!
Local Dehy was founded in 2015 by Frankie and Emily, who are based in Lake Hāwea in Wanaka.
They are as committed to creating full-flavoured food, as they are to sustainability; from sourcing local ingredients – to using solar power. Their food comes packaged in compostable packaging and all of their practices are inspired by the principles of kaitiakitanga: to protect and preserve Papatūānuku.
