Māori Language Week

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori / Māori Language Week begins today, until the 19th of Hepetema / September. This year marks the 49th year since the Māori Language petition was presented to parliament calling for te reo to be taught in schools in Aotearoa. Whai wāhi mai / take part by Whakarongo / listening, Kōrero / speaking te reo, Ako / learning, Tākaro / playing (Te Wiki o te Reo Māori have created a Kahoot quiz), Pānui / reading books written or contributed to by Māori and Waiata / singing. Additionally, support Māori artists and one of the 10,000 registered Māori businesses in Aotearoa, such as Little Natives Jewelry, Authentic Ngāi Tahu Pounamu and Shona Tawhiao Face Masks.
