What’s It Worth

Many of you will know the name: Elon Musk. He is the co-founder and CEO of Tesla, founder of SpaceX, bought Twitter for $44.0 billion; and according to Forbes is worth $246.2 billion. What will Twitter look like under his ownership? Well, Musk has said that Twitter should avoid getting involved in content regulation, and given his documented history of spreading misinformation and attacking his perceived enemies, it’s not difficult to understand why.

In other ‘unrelated’ news, the President of the United States Joe Biden, has stated their budget to combat the climate crisis is $44.9 billion. Within this budget, they hope to achieve a 50 – 52 percent reduction from 2005 levels in economy-wide net greenhouse gas pollution by 2030.The New Zealand Labour Party has announced they will significantly increase its contribution to the global effort to tackle climate change, by reducing net greenhouse emissions by 50 percent by 2030. In December 2021, Climate Change Minister James Shaw confirmed that the Climate Emergency Response Fund (CERF) has been established with $4.5 billion from the Emissions Trading Scheme.
