Whenever I am in Paihia, Northland NZ, I make a point of visiting Third Wheel Coffee Co. It is tucked down an alley off Marsden Road and is a café “Where Everybody Knows Your Name.” Owners Emma and Tom moved up from Wellington and opened Third Wheel Coffee Co. in March 2018. They sell great coffee and bomb cabinet food, and their café features local artist Douglas Sehnert Creates incredible artwork and other local products such as Lily & Me Jewelry, Miss Bodangles Jewelry, SUP NZ and Joco Cups. I had not been home to the Bay of Island in two years and had no expectations that Emma and Tom would remember me, but as I reached the front of the queue to place my order, Emma exclaimed “Sian, how have you been?” I was home.
