Here we go whānau. Approximately two years in the making, and the day has come to vote for essential protection measures for wildlife in The Catlins. New Zealand sea lions/pakake were once distributed from Cape Reinga/Te Rerenga Wairua to the Subantarctic Islands, before humans colonised Aotearoa. They were nearly wiped out due to our over-harvesting of them; but now they are back! Let’s give them and other indigenous, endangered species such as yellow-eyed penguins/hoiho a fighting chance.
